Features

The Industrial Communication Explorer is an accompanying tool for all devices powered by the GOAL Device Detection protocol such as SoM/iRJ45 device and assists in developing applications on Windows, Linux and Mac OS.

The tool allows to configure the device, creating snapshots of the current state, update the firmware, read logs and initiate a PROFINET, EtherNET/IP or EtherCAT connection using the integrated master emulators.

Thus, the tool can also assist in the production line of devices for setting the default state of the device such as the initial firmware or device configuration.

Device Management

  • Scanning for devices in the network (device detection)

  • Reading and writing the configuration of a device via the ConfigManager

  • Reading and resetting the device log

  • Reading and resetting the exception log

  • Updating the firmware of the device (SoM/iRJ45 only)

  • Creating snapshots of the device

PROFINET Master

  • test I/O data exchange with an Device Detection powered device via a PROFINET RT connection

  • identify the device via the PROFINET DCP protocol

  • set a station name via the PROFINET DCP protocol

  • set the IP configuration via the PROFINET DCP protocol

  • trigger the Wink command via the PROFINET DCP protocol

  • read/write I&M 1-4 records via the PROFINE RT protocol

  • read/write user defined records via the PROFINET RT protocol

  • see alarms generated by the device

EtherNet/IP Scanner

  • scan for EtherNet/IP adapters

  • read device data

  • tests I/O data exchange with a Device Detection powered device

EtherCAT Master

  • test I/O data exchange with a Device Detection powered device via EtherCAT

  • identify the device via the EtherCAT

  • cycle through the different states of the EtherCAT state machine

  • retrieve the object dictionary from the device

  • read object dictionary values

  • adjust RxPDO and TxPDO mapping

  • write the EEPROM of the device
